Amman: Talks between senior Israeli-Palestinian officials will take place in Jordan. The discussion comes amid escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank. The talks will take place in the Red Sea port city of Aqba on Sunday. Representatives of the US and Egypt will also participate in the discussion.

Earlier, 11 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack on the West Bank. The discussion is going on after this. So far this year, 62 people, including adults and children, have been killed in Israeli attacks.

Officials explained that the political security meeting was part of Jordan’s efforts to de-escalate tensions that could result from Israel’s unilateral actions. Al Jazeera reports that the aim of the discussion is to avoid the security and economic problems that the Palestinians are currently experiencing. Citing Jordanian representatives, Reuters reported that such a meeting was held for the first time in recent years.

Earlier, King Abdullah of Jordan discussed the problems in the Middle East with US President Joe Biden. He also raised the issue of Palestine before the US President. He also held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in January.
