In a devastating blow to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), nine soldiers have lost their lives in a fierce battle in the northern Gaza Strip. The IDF spokesman announced this morning the tragic news, further adding that four soldiers were injured during the operation.

Among the fallen soldiers, seven belonged to the Givati Brigade, a renowned infantry brigade of the IDF. They were killed when an anti-tank missile struck the Tiger APC they were in. The other two casualties were armored fighters from the 7th Brigade, losing their lives while climbing on a cargo.

The IDF has released the names of the fallen soldiers who were allowed to be published:

Amidst ongoing conflicts, the IDF faced multiple threats throughout the day. Aerial threats were successfully thwarted in the Red Sea area, and an alert was raised in Eilat. In another incident, the IDF intercepted a surface-to-air missile launched from Lebanon towards an unmanned aerial vehicle, averting any potential damage within Israeli territory. In response, the Air Force launched a retaliatory strike against the source of the missile launch and the squad responsible.

Tragically, the death toll continues to rise. Since the initiation of Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel, at least 1,400 Israelis have lost their lives, while more than 5,000 have sustained injuries. Heartbreaking notifications have been sent to 240 families regarding their loved ones’ abduction.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported a staggering number of casualties. Since the start of the war, over 8,005 Palestinians have lost their lives, including more than 3,000 children and over 2,000 women.

As Israel mourns the loss of these brave soldiers, their sacrifice serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination of the IDF. The nation stands united in honoring their memory and supporting the troops as they continue their efforts to restore peace and security in the region.
