ISSSTE sends more than 60,000 pieces of equipment to its hospitals

In the last seven months they have arrived at the central warehouse of the Institute for Social Security and Service of State Workers (Issste) 61 thousand 700 pieces of medical equipment and furniture. With this, the medical units of the three levels of care throughout the country are strengthened, from general consultation to high specialty, informed the general director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella.

Nationwide, the institute has a National Medical Center, 14 regional hospitals, 127 hospitals, 500 clinics and Family Medicine Units (UMF), 401 Family Care Clinics (CAF) and 67 Workplace Medical Clinics (CMCT). The foregoing generates a total of 1,110 medical units, which are being equipped with the necessary tools to provide better care to the more than 13.6 million beneficiaries.

Deliveries are made on a scheduled basis from the central warehouse and are part of the national strategy for equipping and strengthening the new ISSSTE.

The deputy director of Warehouses, Fernando Óscar García Chávez, confirmed that, from August 2022 to February 2023, 61,700 pieces of medical equipment and furniture arrived. In sum, one thousand 54 million 514 thousand 267 pesos were allocated and all the supplies are gradually sent to all the federal entities.

He explained that the medical team includes: 700 W or WHO periodontal probes; 169 sets for general surgery, 46 for pediatrics, 28 for neurosurgery, 15 for urology, 15 for abdominal gynecological surgery, 15 for maxillofacial surgery for major procedures, 15 for radical neck surgery and/or thyroidectomy, 128 for cutting for general surgery and 35 oncology.

Likewise, 250 carts for anesthesia, a non-mydriatic digital camera, 11 surgical microscopes, 15 ophthalmological units and 1,313 scales with a stadiometer and a capacity of 202 kilos.

In addition, 15 proctology sets, 348 rollable IV port, 155 advanced electrocardiographs, 54 red carts, 300 lead collars, 77 radiant heat cradles with phototherapy, 16 defibrillators, 113 stomatological units with integrated module, and 21 portable fetal heartbeat sound detectors.

In addition, 15 two-dimensional advanced color Doppler echocardiographs, 15 ophthalmological ultrasonography units, 38 dental radiology units, 38 incubators for newborns, 12,000 adult stethoscopes and 1,000 for children.

Likewise, 20 ultrasonographs, 15 cardiotocographs, 150 intensive care vital signs monitors, 50 electrocardiography monitors, 40 ultrasonographs, 11 digital mammographs, with stereotaxy and tomosynthesis, 40 advanced electrosurgery units with seals or thermo fusion, 1,085 universal tables of exploration; 15 rigid 30-degree, 15 zero-degree, and three flexible neurosurgical endoscopes, among other medical equipment.

Furniture for medical and administrative staff

Some of the pieces of furniture that arrived are: 500 desks, 20,133 fixed chairs without armrests, 1,897 secretarial chairs, 1,512 stainless steel buckets, 210 recovery bed cars, 260 storage shelves, 269 repose seats, 2,000 tandem benches, 1,518 tray trays, 650 high tables, 1,085 examination tables, among others.

Added to this, 400 equipped ambulances that meet official Mexican standards have been delivered to the medical units of the three levels of care.

Regional hospitals are also being built in Coahuila, Guerrero and Jalisco; one general in Tamaulipas and two Family Medicine Clinics with Specialty and Operating Room (CMFEQ) in Baja California Sur and Chiapas, for the benefit of beneficiary families in the country.

Finally, he recalled that in 2022, 2,307,424 pieces of medical equipment, furniture, uniforms, hospital and operating room clothing were distributed. This year, deliveries continue and from January 2 to February 3, 116,948 units were distributed.
