“It doesn’t matter if you don’t go to the end”: for the vice-president of Pari Roller, the goal is to move

by time news

Do not think that in his capacity as vice-president Samuel Moreau remains seated behind his desk when the others are driving. After the traditional introductory remarks to give the safety instructions, he opens the procession with the same mastery of the rollers as the other volunteers who supervise the practitioners.

What does Pari Roller bring to its participants?

SAMUEL MOREAU. It’s a fun time, which is also free, which is aimed at all generations. We come alone, with friends, with family, and everyone makes the same effort, which remains accessible because we have lowered the level over the years. To anyone who says it’s hard, I answer that if you don’t go to the end, it doesn’t matter. The main thing is not to give up, you will do better next time!

Why did you open up to mobility other than rollerblading?

Quite simply because we had an increasingly insistent demand for the arrival of self-service scooters, in addition to bicycles. Many people wanted to join us without necessarily having the desire or even the mastery of rollerblading. This allowed us, the organizers, to have feedback from mobility users. The goal is still to move.

What is impressive is how much safety is emphasized.

This is why it is important to repeat the instructions before each departure. Our regulars know them, but not necessarily those who do something other than rollerblading and who join us for the first time. We must have respect among ourselves and with car users. It’s just logic, but unfortunately not everyone has it… Fortunately, there are few incidents, either on rollerblades or with complaining motorists. They are very far from being the majority, people rather encourage us and take pictures of us.
