With a high number of internally displaced people, widows and orphans due to insecurity, a humanitarian challenge arises. It is in this sense that a group of young people initiated a project called “Charity” to raise awareness and support these people in vulnerable situations.

For a first edition of this project, a panel was organized under the theme “Current humanitarian challenge: We can and must do something” with the aim of inviting the Burkinabè to resilience and solidarity towards widows and orphans. For the project coordinator, Saïba Benjamin Nikiéma, the organization of this panel aims to invite citizens, particularly young people, to initiate charitable works for widows and orphans.

“We initiated this panel with the aim of reaching more youth and adolescents on humanitarian issues. What we are experiencing today, in particular the humanitarian crisis, are things that we cannot prevent at once.

But as we live through the consequences, iIt goes without saying that everyone can put their hand in. And as youth are the builders of any nation, we wanted this panel to talk to them about the reasons why they must be humanitarians. That is to say, supporting widows and orphans “, he clarified. For the panelists, the current humanitarian need is at several levels, namely food, security and education, and depending on the needs, everyone can and must contribute.

“First, we took the trouble to go to the word of God to convince ourselves that God’s will for each human being is to manifest charity, compassion, then concrete actions of charity to help to whoever needs it. Depending on the need of those who are vulnerable, we must create this compassion within ourselves and act according to our abilities”underlined Eldaa R. Kouama, one of the panelists of the day.

As a reminder, the 48 hours of charity are held under the main theme “Spread the good smell: the joy and happiness of the widow and/or the orphan can also come from me! “. An evening of adoration is planned for this Sunday, January 14, 2024 for the benefit of widows and orphans.
