Kuwait City: Kuwait has reportedly stopped issuing work visas to people from some countries. ‘Al Anba’ newspaper also reported that the Ministry of Interior gave a verbal instruction for this. However, there is no explanation in the report as to which countries the obstruction is, the reason for it, and how long it will last. No official confirmation has been released on the matter. Earlier, Kuwait introduced strict restrictions on visit visas and temporarily stopped issuing family visas. As part of the introduction of the new system, restrictions on visit visas were introduced in June.
Family visit visa was also abolished in August. Authorities are said to be working on drafting rules to ensure that visitors return when their visas expire. Family visit visas will reportedly resume only after these rules are in place. It is estimated that many people who came to Kuwait on visit visas are staying in the country after the end of the visit period. According to the authorities, there are about 20,000 expatriates in Kuwait. Steps are being taken to arrest and repatriate such people in the country.
