The results of the Italian elections cast very little doubt: the victory of the extreme right is overwhelming. Especially in political terms. If you look closely at the first available data -which record the highest abstention rate ever, 34%-, the set of popular votes of the three parties that make up the right-wing coalition does not vary significantly compared to four years ago, since in both cases it is around 12 million votes. What will change substantially will be the distribution of seats, since the electoral law in force greatly rewards the political forces that appear in coalition, as in the case, indeed, of Forza Italia, the Lega, and, obviously, Fratelli d’Italia, the party with neo-fascist roots led by Giorgia Meloni.
