Banco Itaú is negotiating the sale of its operation in Argentina to Banco Macro.
“Given the news published in the Argentine press, titled Itaú Bank puts the cartel on its Argentine subsidiary”, Itaú Unibanco Holding SA (“Itaú Unibanco”) Itaú Unibanco Holding SA (“Itaú Unibanco”) clarifies that it is in preliminary negotiations with Banco Macro, based in Argentina, in order to get rid of its operations in that country,” the entity detailed.
Itaú highlighted that Banco Macro, which is listed on the Buenos Aires and New York stock exchanges, is one of the main private banks in Argentina. It has an extensive network of branches in the country and offers financial products and services throughout the Argentine territory, serving all segments, from individuals to large companies.
Itaú Unibanco also informs that “up to now it has not signed any binding document in relation to this possible sale and that it will immediately notify the market of any relevant information regarding this fact.”
