Not so with the digital pioneer Spieren in Wenden. Of the 100 to 150 prescriptions that are issued in his practice every day on average, 50 to 80 are now e-prescriptions – which puts Spieren pretty far ahead nationwide. The 44-year-old general practitioner still has to print out most e-prescriptions because many patients do not yet use the Gematik e-prescription app. “Nevertheless, it relieves my employees,” says Spieren. Because even printed e-prescriptions no longer have to be signed – this means that many trips through the practice are no longer necessary. In addition, the man from Sauerland is already thinking ahead: “I’m working on a technological bridge so that I can at least send the e-prescriptions digitally by e-mail, if desired.”
