Chennai: The Chennai High Court has ordered to file a case against the activists of the Tamil film Jai Bhim. The court was hearing a petition filed by Rudra Vanniyar Sena alleging that the film portrayed the Vanniyar community badly. The police have been directed to register an FIR against producers Surya, Jyothika and director TJ Gnanavell.
During the release of the film, the Vanniyar community also demanded that Jai Bhim be banned. Offensive scenes should be removed from the film. The Vanniyar team is demanding Rs 5 crore in compensation and an unconditional apology from the Jai Bhim team. The Vanniyar community came with a complaint in November 2021. The brutal policeman in the film is not really a member of the Vanniyar community. However, members of the Vanniyar community allege that there was an attempt to portray it in such a way.
Director TJ Gnanavel had responded that he did not try to hurt any community through the film. He also said in an interview to a Tamil media that he would apologize if anyone was hurt by the film Jai Bhim. Surya starrer ‘Jai Bhim’ is a critically acclaimed and critically acclaimed film.
