Jakarta – Heavy rainfall has led to widespread flooding across Jakarta, impacting 168 neighborhood units (RTs) and seven main roads as of Friday afternoon, according to the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD). The situation is particularly severe in South Jakarta, where 89 RTs are currently inundated.
The BPBD reported that as of 4:00 PM local time, flooding has affected areas in West Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta. “The BPBD recorded that currently We find 168 RTs and 7 roads affected by flooding,” a statement from the BPBD Command Center said, as reported by detik.com. The agency is coordinating with relevant departments to address the crisis and provide assistance to those affected.
In East Jakarta’s Kampung Melayu district, water levels have reached as high as 1.5 meters (approximately 4.9 feet), posing a significant challenge to residents and emergency responders. The BPBD is deploying personnel to monitor conditions, clear drainage systems, and ensure essential supplies reach those displaced by the rising waters.
Areas Most Affected by Jakarta Flooding
The flooding is unevenly distributed across the city. Here’s a breakdown of the affected areas, according to the BPBD’s latest report:
West Jakarta (33 RTs)
- Kedaung Kali Angke: 11 RTs, water levels between 30-80 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Angke River.
- Rawa Buaya: 11 RTs, water levels between 30-70 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Angke River.
- Kebon Jeruk: 1 RT, water level 40 cm, caused by heavy rainfall.
- Kedoya Selatan: 5 RTs, water level 80 cm, caused by heavy rainfall.
- Kembangan Selatan: 3 RTs, water level 40 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Pesanggrahan River.
- Kembangan Utara: 2 RTs, water level 40 cm, caused by heavy rainfall.
South Jakarta (89 RTs)
- Cilandak Barat: 1 RT, water level 30 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Krukut River.
- Pondok Labu: 1 RT, water level 30 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Krukut River.
- Tanjung Barat: 1 RT, water level 40 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Ciliwung River.
- Cipete Utara: 3 RTs, water level 60 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Krukut River.
- Petogogan: 39 RTs, water levels between 50-80 cm, caused by heavy rainfall, overflow from the Kali Krukut River, and overflow from the Nipam PHB.
- Pondok Pinang: 6 RTs, water level 90 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Pesanggrahan River.
- Pela Mampang: 2 RTs, water level 30 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Mampang River.
- Rawajati: 3 RTs, water level 30 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Ciliwung River.
- Cilandak Timur: 2 RTs, water levels between 40-85 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Krukut River.
- Pejaten Timur: 3 RTs, water level 95 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Ciliwung River.
- Bintaro: 8 RTs, water levels between 40-70 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Pesanggrahan River.
- Pesanggrahan: 9 RTs, water levels between 30-60 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Uangan River.
- Petukangan Utara: 10 RTs, water level 100 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Uangan River.
- Ulujami: 1 RT, water level 90 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Uangan River.
East Jakarta (45 RTs)
- Kampung Melayu: 16 RTs, water levels between 110-150 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Ciliwung River.
- Bidara Cina: 19 RTs, water levels between 80-125 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Ciliwung River.
- Balekambang: 1 RT, water level 80 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Ciliwung River.
- Cawang: 7 RTs, water levels between 40-80 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Ciliwung River.
- Cililitan: 2 RTs, water level 80 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Ciliwung River.
North Jakarta (1 RT)
- Rorotan: 1 RT, water level 50 cm, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Kali Cakung Drain.
In addition to the inundated residential areas, seven roads are also affected by the flooding: Jl. Pondok Karya (South Jakarta), Jl. Strategi Raya (West Jakarta), Jl. Basoka Raya (West Jakarta), Jl. Puri Kembangan (West Jakarta), Jl. Daan Mogot (West Jakarta), Jl. Kali Sekretaris (West Jakarta), and Jl. Daan Mogot KM 13 (West Jakarta).
The BPBD has reported that some areas have already seen water levels recede, including parts of Lebak Bulus, Pesanggrahan, Cilandak Timur, and Kebayoran Lama Utara. Jl. Ciledug Raya, Jl. Gaya Motor Raya, and Jl. Srengseng Raya have also seen floodwaters subside.
The Jakarta BPBD continues to monitor the situation closely and coordinate efforts with local authorities to mitigate the impact of the flooding.
