Westport, Ireland, January 21, 2026 — James Ballure, a resident of Ayle, Westport, unexpectedly passed away yesterday in Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, leaving a community in mourning.

The sudden loss of James Ballure has deeply affected his family and friends in the Westport area.

The news of James Ballure’s passing has sent ripples of sadness through Westport and beyond. He was a beloved member of the community, known for his warm spirit and dedication to his family. What exactly does a community do when faced with such a sudden loss?

James is deeply mourned by his wife, Mary, his daughter Kelsie and her partner Niall, his son Cian, his brother Tom, his sister Mary Carolan, brother-in-law Michael Carolan, and sisters-in-law Mary Ludden (Doohoma) and Mary Ludden (Ballure), as well as numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Mr. Ballure was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Julia, and his brothers, Padraic, Mick, Eoin, and John, as well as his parents-in-law, Anne and John McManamon. The family is understandably devastated by this accumulation of loss.

A time for reflection and remembrance has been scheduled. Mr. Ballure will repose at Killawalla Community Centre (F28 DY86) on Sunday, January 25th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, allowing friends and neighbors to pay their respects.

The funeral cortege will arrive at St. Patrick’s Church, Killawalla, on Monday, January 26th, at 11:15 a.m. for Requiem Mass, which will begin at 12:00 noon. Following the Mass, Mr. Ballure will be laid to rest in Killawalla Cemetery.
