Jan 12 declared public holiday in Oman; Applies to private sector as well

Muscat: The ruler of Oman, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, has declared a public holiday on January 12 in the country to mark the third anniversary of his assumption of power. An official order has been issued in this regard.

According to the royal order of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, January 12 will be an official holiday for the employees of the country’s public sector institutions and other legal institutions and private sector institutions.

Oman’s ruler Sultan Haitham bin Tariq had issued an order declaring official holidays in advance. The Government of Oman, in Decree No. 88/2022, sets out the public and private sector public holidays.

These are the holidays by order of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq
1. Beginning of Hijra New Year (Arabic month of Muharram – 1)
2. The Prophet’s Day (Arabic month Rabi’ul Awwal – 12)
3. Isra’ Mi’aj (Arabic month Rajab 27)
4. National Day (November 18 – 19)
5. The day the sultan took over the kingdom (January 11)
6. Short Feast (29th of Ramadan to 3rd of Shawwal)
7. The Feast of Sacrifice (Ninth to Twelfth of the Arabic Month of Dhul Hajj)
