by time news

Located in East Asia, the government of Japan has urged its youth to drink more alcohol. It seems that the Japanese government is planning to hold competitions at the domestic level for that. Let’s see what the reason is.

There are many slogans against drinking alcohol such as ‘alcohol is harmful to the country and home’, ‘drinking spoils the drinker, and drinking spoils the health’. Alcoholic products sold in our country are printed in bold letters saying ‘drinking alcohol is bad for health’. In some countries, consumption and sale of alcohol is completely prohibited.

In this case, the Japanese government has urged the youth of their country to drink more alcohol. Apart from that, it seems that the government is going to introduce national level competitions to increase the consumption of alcohol in the country.

What is the reason? – Young people have given up drinking in Japan after the spread of the corona virus. At the same time, a large number of young people have adopted this trend. Therefore, it is said that middle-aged and senior citizens are consuming more alcohol than the youth in that country.

The government has suffered a huge loss in tax revenue due to this. The country’s National Tax Agency has identified the reason for that. After knowing that the reason is that the youth do not drink alcohol, it has launched a campaign called ‘The Sake Viva’ to promote it.

It has also invited young people between the ages of 20 and 39 to come up with a proposal to revive the sale of alcoholic beverages like beer, whiskey and wine. In particular, it has been reported that new ideas are needed to increase the sale of alcohol.

In the last fiscal year 2020, only 2 percent of the tax revenue received by the Japanese government came from the sale of alcohol. The total revenue from liquor sales is said to be US$ 8 billion. It is said that this is 13 percent less than the tax revenue received by the country from the sale of alcohol in 2016.

In this case, there has been opposition to this initiative of the government. In particular, it was criticized as a ridiculous act. This issue has received worldwide attention. Moreover, the medical department of Japan has not participated in this campaign, and an explanation has been given on behalf of that department.

It is a campaign aimed at increasing sales. Otherwise, the country’s tax agency has explained that people are not being forced to drink alcohol.
