Jarry Returns to TF1 with New Game Show and Acting Role
TF1 is bolstering its lineup with the return of popular French actor and humorist Jarry, who will appear in a new television series and host a prime-time game show, the network announced on July 5. The move signals a strategic effort by TF1 to re-engage familiar faces and attract audiences with a mix of established talent and fresh formats.
TF1 Courts Established Stars for Ratings Boost
The announcement came from Ara Aprilikian, program director and second-in-command at TF1, during an interview with Le Parisian. Aprilikian outlined a two-pronged approach for Jarry’s return, beginning with a role in a series adaptation of the Kev Adams film, “Retirement Home.” He will be one of the “main performers” in the fictional project.
Following the series, Jarry will take the helm of “The Iite,” a new game show described as an adaptation of a British format. According to the report, the show is a “twist” on the traditional quiz show, scheduled for prime time. While specific details remain scarce, the concept bears resemblance to a British program called “The Imposter,” which was piloted but never aired.
“The Iite” Game Show: A Game of Deception
The British format, as detailed in The Sun, involves five contestants answering general knowledge questions to build a prize fund. However, one contestant is secretly a “traitor,” aiming to sabotage the group. Instead of adding to the prize pool with correct answers, the impostor’s incorrect responses increase their own individual winnings. At the end of each round, contestants vote to identify the “impostor,” making deception and deduction key elements of the gameplay.
A Familiar Network for Jarry
This return to TF1 is not Jarry’s first. He previously served as a jury member on “Mask Singer” from 2019 to 2022 and was a frequent guest on “Friday Everything is Allowed” with Arthur, programs that significantly raised his profile. Prior to this, Jarry hosted “Le Big Show” and “Everyone Wants to Take Their Place” on France Télévisions between 2022 and 2024, departing the latter to focus on his live shows.
TF1 is also reportedly hoping to bring back another well-known figure, Alain Chabat, as a host. “We talked about several projects with him that could not finally be done,” a senior official stated, indicating ongoing efforts to leverage established personalities.
The network’s strategy of re-engaging popular talent underscores the competitive landscape of French television, where attracting and retaining viewers requires a blend of proven stars and innovative programming.
