Jeju Wellness Tourism Sees Boost with ‘Winter Travel Week’ Discounts
Jeju Island is poised to become a haven for wellness travelers this winter, with significant discounts offered at five certified tourist sites beginning tomorrow, November 21st, and running through December 7th. The Jeju Tourism Organization (JTO) is spearheading the initiative, offering savings of 30% to 60% on a range of restorative experiences.
Revitalizing Jeju’s Tourism Sector
As the colder months approach, the JTO, led by CEO Seung-cheol Ko, announced a special promotion designed to attract visitors seeking rejuvenation and mindful experiences. This “Winter Jeju Travel Week” focuses on the island’s growing reputation as a destination for wellness tourism, capitalizing on its natural beauty and unique cultural offerings. The discounts apply to attractions located in the Dongkarum (Gujwa-eup, Seongsan-eup, Pyoseon-myeon) and Alkarm (Seogwipo downtown, Namwon-eup) areas.
A Diverse Range of Wellness Experiences
The promotion encompasses a variety of programs designed to cater to diverse interests. Visitors can immerse themselves in Jeju’s natural landscapes and traditions with offerings such as:
- Jeju Camellia Village: Pot rice cooking classes and bracken camellia oil pasta making, both at a 30% discount.
- Chwidaseon Resort: Meditation and tea ceremonies, also discounted by 30%.
- Hoesudaok: TEA set-ups available at a 30% reduction in price.
- Meochewat Forest: Forest commentary programs, soothing foot baths, and blueberry dessert classes, each offered with a 30% discount.
Deep Discounts on Specialized Programs
Meochewat Forest is further enhancing the appeal with limited-time, specialized forest healing programs available at a substantial 60% discount. These include the Jeju Eomeong Forest Healing Journey Program, a resilience challenge program incorporating smart band heart rate monitoring for a “body reset,” and opportunities to create personalized restorative spaces within the forest itself.
A unique offering, the Jeju Travel Weekly Special Duo Program, combines the benefits of forest yoga at WE Hotel with a traditional tea service at Hoesudaok, available at a 50% discount.
Expanding Jeju’s Wellness Credentials
According to a senior official, “This benefit is a promotion that provides a high discount rate in the Jeju wellness tourism field,” emphasizing the JTO’s commitment to establishing Jeju as a premier wellness destination. The initiative builds upon the foundation laid in August of last year, when the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Tourism Organization jointly designated 12 sites as ‘Jeju Wellness Certified Tourist Sites.’ These sites span four key areas: nature/forest healing, healing/meditation, beauty/spa, and wellness community.
The JTO hopes to provide visitors with “the time to take care of your body and mind in Jeju,” fostering a deeper connection with the island’s restorative environment. This promotion signals a strategic investment in the future of Jeju’s tourism sector, prioritizing experiences that promote well-being and sustainable travel.
