New York, Nov. 14–

In the elections to the US Parliament, the ruling Democratic Party has retained its majority in the upper house of the Senate.

Elections were held for the lower House of Representatives and 35 seats in the Senate. As the election was held two years after Democrat Joe Biden took over as president, there was great expectation on the results. It is usual for the ruling party to suffer setbacks in parliamentary elections. Previous presidents have faced the same situation.

Democrats win

However, the ruling Democratic Party has regained its majority in the Senate in the current election, changing that practice. This has disappointed former President Donald Trump’s Republican Party. The Democrats have a total of 50 members out of 100 seats in the Senate. After that, the Democratic Party’s majority was solid.

The Republican Party has 49 members in the Senate. A runoff election will be held in Georgia on December 6, with no party candidate winning a majority. Expressing his happiness about the election results, President Biden said that he will win the Georgia election and increase the strength of the Democratic Party in the Senate to 51.

Jobitan also said that with the victory, he will spend the second half of his tenure more specifically for the welfare of the people.
