A royal order was issued in Jordan to hold House of Representatives elections in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The Jordanian News Agency reported that King Abdullah II visited the Independent Electoral Commission and met with the Chairman and members of its Board of Commissioners to review its preparations to manage and supervise the electoral process.

The Jordanian King stressed the necessity of making efforts by the Board of Commissioners and the commission’s cadres to make the electoral process a success, and to work to prevent any violations with all determination, considering it an “important stage” in the process of political modernization, which constitutes the beginning of a new phase of party and parliamentary programmatic work.

On the other hand, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Musa Al-Maaytah, confirmed the Commission’s readiness for the electoral process, dealing with its conduct, and announcing its results with full transparency.

According to Al-Maaytah, the Commission announced the electronic voter registry, indicating that the number of voters reached more than 5 million male and female voters.

He pointed out that 1,600 polling centers were identified and 19 main electoral committees were selected.

Under the Constitution, multi-party elections are usually held within 4 months of the end of the House of Representatives’ four-year term.

The country’s last elections were held in November 2020, in which the number of eligible voters reached 4.6 million.
