Karaikal District Collector Announces School Holiday Due to Heavy Rain

The Karaikal District Collector has ordered a holiday for schools tomorrow due to heavy rain. This decision comes after 33 districts in Tamil Nadu received an average of 2.15 cm of rain until 8:30 am today. The Mayiladuthurai district saw the maximum rainfall of 13.18 cm.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that tomorrow, January 9, there will be light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in many places in South-East, a few places in North Tamil Nadu, Puduwai, and Karaikal. Heavy rain is expected in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram districts at one or two places.

As a result of these weather conditions, the district collector of Karaikal has announced a holiday for schools tomorrow. Both private and government schools operating in Karaikal district will remain closed on January 9.

Looking ahead, the weather forecast for January 10 to January 13 predicts light to moderate rain at a few places in South-East, a couple of places in North Tamil Nadu, Puduwai, and Karaikal. Heavy rain is expected at a few places in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Tuticorin districts.

From January 14, dry weather may prevail over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai, and Karaikal.
