The Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan ratified the intergovernmental Agreement with Turkey on international combined transport of goods, the purpose of which is to further develop transit and transport potential and trade and economic relations between the republics.

As Day.Az reports on Wednesday, the document was signed on May 10, 2022 in Ankara.

The agreement is aimed at increasing cargo flow through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (using the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the ports of the Caspian Sea and the international transit corridor “Western Europe – Western China”) and, accordingly, increasing trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Turkey.

Ratification of the agreement will reduce the transit time of goods to 5 days. In 2022, completing this route took 13-15 days.

Instead of two waybills for combined transportation by rail and sea, a single digital document is being introduced, which can be issued through an automated digital platform.
