Thiruvananthapuram: Kovid-19 confirmed for 361 in Kerala. Outbreaks were reported in Ernakulam 117, Thiruvananthapuram 56, Kozhikode 33, Kottayam 31, Thrissur 27, Kollam 24, Pathanamthitta 15, Alappuzha 15, Idukki 11, Kannur 9, Malappuram 8, Wayanad 8, Palakkad 7 and Kasaragod 0 districts. During the last 24 hours, 18,040 samples were tested.

No deaths have been confirmed in the last 24 hours due to Kovid-19. In addition, 3 deaths were reported in the previous days but 29 deaths due to late receipt of documents and 29 deaths due to appeal by the Central Government under the new guidelines of the Supreme Court. This brings the total death toll in the state to 68,228.

369 people who were diagnosed and treated were cured. Thiruvananthapuram 45, Kollam 13, Pathanamthitta 30, Alappuzha 17, Kottayam 18, Idukki 25, Ernakulam 110, Thrissur 53, Palakkad 2, Malappuram 5, Kozhikode 35, Wayanad 5, Kannur 10 and Kasaragod 1 were cured. With this, 2467 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, XE, the latest variant of the Kovid 19 virus recently discovered in the UK, was first reported in India. The first case was reported in Mumbai. XE is a virus variant that is ten times more potent than Omicron.

The XE variant was tested on 230 samples. ANI reported, citing the Mumbai Corporation, that 228 cases were omicron and one case was kappa variant.
