A holiday has been announced today for all educational institutions in Alappuzha district in the wake of continued heavy rains. Today will be a holiday, including for professional educational institutions in the district. The holiday was announced by the District Collector. Schools running relief camps in Pathanamthitta district will have a holiday today. There is no change in PSC exams scheduled earlier. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been announced at the Idukki dam in case the water level does not come down. Currently the water level in the dam has risen to 2381.53 feet. A red alert will be announced if the water level rises by one foot. The water level in Mullaperiyar dam rose to 138.05 feet. The authorities have advised the people living on the banks of Periyar to be cautious. The dam’s 10 spillway shutters were opened by 30 cm each. 4 shutters of Thrissur Peachy Dam have been raised. All four shutters of Palakkad Malampuzha Dam were opened.
