Kerala Rains: Cyclone hits Arabian Sea; Isolated showers and thundershowers in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains are expected in Kerala as cyclonic circulation is likely to enter the Arabian Sea. The Meteorological Department has warned that new low pressure in the Bay of Bengal is likely to enter the Arabian Sea by Monday (November 29). New low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is expected to form in the southern Andaman Sea by November 29. It is expected to strengthen in the next 48 hours and move west-northwest towards the Indian coast. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast isolated heavy showers in Kerala from November 27 to 29 and isolated heavy showers on November 28 (today).

Therefore, an orange alert has been issued in Idukki and a yellow alert in ten districts of the state. Today the yellow alert is in all the districts except Alappuzha, Kannur and Kasaragod. Isolated showers are possible in hilly areas.

In case of heavy rain warning, it is necessary to cooperate with the authorities in the areas where they have to relocate. People living in dangerous areas should be cautious as the sea level rise is likely to be strong along different coasts. You have to move around at the required stage. Fishing gear should be kept safe. Those who live in unsealed houses and those whose houses do not have strong roofs should be prepared to move for safety in the face of warnings in the coming days.
Endangered trees / posts / boards in private and public places should be secured and the trees should be pruned. Risks should be brought to the attention of the authorities.
The Kovid must be fully prepared to meet the criteria for the transition to relief camps.

In case of heavy rains, do not cross rivers, bathe in rivers or other bodies of water for fishing or any other purpose. Do not climb over the overpasses to see the view, take selfies or stand in groups. Residents below the dams should be prepared in advance for possible leaks from the dams and relocate if required as per the instructions of the authorities. Completely avoid night trekking to hilly areas.
