Kevin Federline is facing a $117,704 credit debt lawsuit from City National Bank, arriving immediately after his monthly child support payments from ex-wife Britney Spears officially ended in November 2024 following the graduation of their younger son, Jayden James.
Bank of America and City National Bank Target Federline Over Unpaid Lines
Court documents show that Bank of America sued Federline in February for an unpaid credit card balance of $12,186.64 in Honolulu, Hawaii, requesting the court to order payment of accrued interest, attorney fees, and the $155 filing fee. Financial obligations tied to Kevin Federline have escalated into civil court actions there following the cessation of long-standing support distributions.
That initial matter was resolved in June when Bank of America filed to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice after the balance was settled. However, a substantially larger legal filing quickly followed from a second major institution.
City National Bank filed its own lawsuit targeting Federline for $117,704.77 across three separate credit facilities: a credit card, a personal line of credit, and an overdraft facility. According to court records, Federline entered into those credit agreements in late November 2024, exactly when Britney Spears made her final child-support payment.
Credit Agreements Set Repayment Deadlines and Accrued Interest Terms
The overdraft facility carried an 18% interest rate with a repayment deadline in April 2025. The City National Bank complaint details distinct repayment deadlines and interest structures across the three disputed accounts. The personal line of credit charged 7.5% interest and matured in June 2025. The credit card facility carried a 20.5% interest rate with a repayment deadline set for August 2026.

Child Support History and the Ending of Monthly Disbursements
Spears and Federline married in September 2004 before their divorce was finalized in July 2007. The legal actions coincide with the conclusion of a high-profile child support arrangement originating from the former couple’s marriage. Federline subsequently became the primary carer for their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, raising them in Hawaii alongside his wife Victoria Prince, whom he married in 2013.
Payments were reduced to $20,000 per month after Sean Preston turned 18 in September 2023, and continued until Jayden James graduated high school in November 2024. Under the support agreement, Spears initially sent $40,000 per month. At the highest reported level, this annualised figure reached $480,000.

A publicist told Rob Shuter’s Substack that the book was intended to be his next payday, though the sales disappointed him when it failed to break into Amazon’s top 500 list. Reflecting on those financial demands, Federline discussed the high costs of raising the boys in his memoir, You Thought You Knew, which hit shelves on October 21, 2025.
People hear figures like that and think you’re financially set. But the reality is far from that. Raising two young boys in Los Angeles, while maintaining the security and stability they needed, came with a price tag that would make anyone’s head spin.

He noted that those monthly child-rearing costs could easily exceed $40,000, adding that the money was gone almost as soon as it came in.
Neither Britney Spears nor her representatives are named as parties responsible for the outstanding bank accounts, and legal representatives for Federline did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the pending litigation.
