A former World Wrestling Federation champion asserts there is no validity to recent allegations suggesting a romantic relationship between Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels. The claims, made by wrestling legend Bret Hart, have been firmly refuted by Kevin Nash, who worked alongside both men during the 1990s.
Nash, speaking on his “Kliq This” podcast, directly addressed Hart’s assertions, stating that he never witnessed any evidence to support them. “I spent the better part of three years of my life with Shawn Michaels,” Nash said, “And I never remember having a double knockout with Vince during any of our travel.”
The Origin of the Allegations
Hart publicly leveled the accusations while discussing the infamous Montreal Screwjob incident on the Johnny Pro Show. He alleged that the relationship between McMahon and Michaels explained his own perceived mistreatment. “When I look back, I got caught between two lovers,” Hart stated. “I got shafted and screwed over and Shawn was so envious and jealous of my position that he finally had to sleep with Vince to get it.”
Nash’s Counterargument: A Secret Too Big to Keep
Nash dismissed the idea that such a relationship could have remained hidden for nearly three decades. “There’s just no way that it would be that he never told anybody,” Nash explained. “He couldn’t tell anybody. See, that’s one of those things where you tell a story like that and you say ‘I’m sure.’ But no, you’re not. No, this is all speculation. He saw nothing. He didn’t walk in on, you know, Pat Patterson or anything like that.”
He emphasized the logistical impossibility of maintaining such a secret within the close-knit world of professional wrestling. Nash believes the timing of Hart’s statements is also noteworthy. “I think it’s in poor taste,” he said, adding a frustrated plea: “I know they’re talking about the screwjob … somebody, please, get the [censored] over that.”
The allegations come as the wrestling world continues to grapple with the legacy of the Montreal Screwjob and its impact on the careers of those involved. Nash’s strong denial offers a counter-narrative to Hart’s claims, suggesting the long-held grievances surrounding the event may be fueling unsubstantiated speculation.
