Brutal Backstab: Kickboxing Teacher Attacked at Gym, Faces Uncertain Future

A kickboxing instructor in Carmen de areco, Argentina, is fighting for his health and career after a shocking attack at the gym where he worked. Alexis Acuña,34,was ambushed and severely beaten on December 3rd,leaving him with multiple facial fractures and an uncertain path to recovery.

From Gym Threats to Violent Assault

The attack stemmed from a dispute over gym cleanliness, according to reports. It began with a series of escalating text messages between Acuña and his assailant, identified only as P.P. The aggressor reportedly took offense to being asked by the gym owner to maintain tidiness and accused Acuña of informing on him. One message from P.P.read, “Cristian sent me today when you told him that I am really messy, I don’t know what problem you have, you just have two exercises.” Acuña responded, attempting to de-escalate the situation, stating, “But I didn’t say anything about the exercises…! It’s just that you then arrange everything, it doesn’t cost me anything! But if we do it as a team, much better.”

The exchange quickly deteriorated, with P.P. threatening a confrontation: “Don’t send me any more, at some point we’re going to cross paths at the gym.. We talked there.” Acuña attempted to reason with the aggressor, emphasizing his preference for a fair fight within the rules of a ring. “I don’t fight friend. I play sports. Do you want to fight with me? Get ready! And see you in a ring! Or cage!! But

From Humble Beginnings to a Promising Career Cut Short

Acuña’s story is one of perseverance and dedication.Born and raised in Carmen de Areco, he grew up in a large, working-class family, recalling times when his family struggled to afford basic necessities. He began working at a young age, cleaning at a local bakery, but always maintained a passion for sports. He initially played soccer before discovering martial arts, eventually earning a red belt in Taekwondo.

His true calling, however, was kickboxing. “I wanted to fight. A real fight, where if they have to break my mouth, they will break my mouth. I wanted an adrenaline that fills my soul,” he stated. He dedicated himself to the sport, traveling to Tucumán in 2021 to pursue opportunities for professional fights. He built a strong amateur and semi-professional record, boasting 15 wins and no losses, and had competed in venues across argentina and even in Tacna, Peru.

Acuña was on the cusp of turning professional in 2024, balancing training with teaching martial arts classes to children and adults at the gym. “At 34 years old I was already thinking about starting to fight professionally next year, but now…with this I don’t know if I’m going to continue fighting,” he lamented. “The truth is that this boy ruined my life, my career…a humble career that I had been doing.”

Seeking Justice and Support

Acuña is adamant that his attacker must be held accountable. “He did whatever he wanted with me, he denigrated me, he minimized me. He has to go to prison because if not he is going to continue acting the same way and he is going to kill someone,” he asserted. He is currently awaiting the outcome of the legal proceedings, which have been assigned to Mercedes UFI 4 and a tax assistant in Carmen de areco. While the aggressor has been notified of the charges of serious injuries, he remains at large.

Acuña is currently unable to eat well,” he explained, describing his current diet as limited to liquids and soft foods.

To help cover the mounting medical expenses, Acuña is organizing a fundraising event on January 25th with the support of fellow kickboxing instructors. He hopes to raise enough money to undergo the necessary surgeries and begin the long process of recovery. “The boy ruined my life,a life full of adrenaline that I had,of physical readiness and that is also why it did not kill me,as I am physically prepared,” Acuña concluded, his voice filled with a mixture of pain and determination.
