2021 can be extremely successful for the Kostroma football team with the strange name “Team of the Secondary School No. 3 named after Georgy Yartsev.” The Kostroma footballers, who are simply called “Yartsevites” among the fans, achieved significant success yesterday on their way to their cherished goal – to advance from Division III “Golden Ring” to the Second League.
To achieve this goal, our players need to take at least a bronze medal – and they approached this goal, after yesterday in the 15th round match away they beat the Kirov Fakel, which is now the third in the standings.
The home team managed to score the first goal for the Yartsev team already in the 10th minute. However, already in the second half of the first half, thanks to Kirill Kozin, our team was able to level the score, and after the break, Nikita Fomin, Kostromich, scored the second goal in the Fakel fort. As a result, the Yartsev team, despite the hosts’ counterattacks, managed to keep the winning score 2: 1 and came close to their rivals in the fight for the bronze.
Now, 7 rounds before the finish of the competition in the III division, Kostroma are only two points behind Kirov. The next match our team will play against another neighbor in the standings – Kovrov’s “Guardsman”.
