Kottayam Parliamentary Elections: UDF and LDF Prepare for Showdown as Candidates Are Considered

Kottayam ∙ With the noise of the parliamentary elections starting to be heard, the fronts have prepared the stage for the contest in the Kottayam seat. Although the UDF candidate has not been decided, the wall writing has already started under the leadership of the Kerala Congress. Wall writing is done without writing the name of the candidate and without drawing the symbol.

BJP is trying to field an unexpected candidate in Kottayam, where Kerala Congress from UDF and Kerala Congress M from LDF are fighting directly. Sitting MP Thomas Chazhikadan will enter the fray as the Left Front candidate.

However, the fact that many people have come forward for seats in the Kerala Congress is creating a headache for the UDF leadership. Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan and KPCC president K. Sudhakaran are holding talks with Kerala Congress leaders P.J. Joseph and Mons Joseph today.

Although the Congress leadership wanted Mons Joseph as its candidate, Mons is of the position that he will not run for Parliament. With that, the discussions ended and the former MP went to Francis George. The names of Mons and Francis George had already been discussed by the Kerala Congress leadership. Francis George is currently preferred for leadership. Prince Luke’s name is also in discussions. Meanwhile, Kerala Congress district president Saji Manjakadam came to the scene claiming for the seat. The names of KM Mani’s son-in-law MP Joseph and Kerala Congress Working Chairman PC Thomas are also in the discussion.

The BJP leadership is actively considering the name of Anil Antony for the Kottayam parliamentary seat. Names of other leaders from the district are also included in the list.
