The United States is allocating $6 billion to support the security of Ukraine, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said at a briefing, Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax.

“These funds will go towards interceptor missiles for Ukrainian Patriot systems, drones and support systems, a significant part of the funds will go towards ammunition for artillery, air-to-surface missiles, as well as for maintenance,” he said.

Earlier, Politico reported that these weapons probably will not reach Ukraine in the next few years required for their production.

On April 24, US President Joe Biden signed a package of bills approved by Congress on additional financial assistance to Ukraine, Israel and allies in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Ukraine Assistance Act provides for the allocation of approximately $61 billion to Kyiv. More than $20 billion of this is planned to be spent on replenishing US arsenals, from which weapons have already been supplied to Kyiv. Another part of the money will be spent to finance the activities of the American military near Ukraine. About $14 billion will be spent on Ukraine purchasing its own weapons.
