Riyadh: 652 new cases of Kovid have been confirmed in Saudi Arabia. Of the current patients, 578 have recovered. No deaths were reported. The total number of cases reported in the country so far is 7,71,302.

The total number of cases rose to 7,54,956. The total death toll rose to 9,156. Of the patients, 7,190 are under treatment. Of these, 88 are in critical condition. They are in the intensive care unit of various hospitals across the country. The condition of the rest is satisfactory. 25,010 RT-PCR tests were performed within 24 hours. Riyadh 228, Jeddah 129, Dammam 87, Makkah 41, Madinah 28, Hufuf 19, Abha 16, Buraidah 8, Dahran 7, Ta’if 6, Khamis Mushait 5 and Al Kharj 5 were the new cases reported in different parts of the country. The country has so far vaccinated 65,955,925 doses of the vaccine. Of these, 26,611,920 were the first dose, 24,973,988 the second dose and 14,370,017 the booster dose.

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia continues to crack down on employment and residence violations. In a week, 13,702 offenders were arrested from different parts of the country. The arrests were made during a field inspection conducted from May 26 to June 1 in collaboration with various units of the security forces and Javas.

Of those arrested, 8,362 had violated the country’s residency laws. A total of 3,513 people were arrested for violating border rules. 1,827 people were arrested for labor law violations. A total of 253 people have been arrested while trying to enter Saudi Arabia illegally. About 50 percent of them are Yemeni. About 41 per cent of the detainees are Ethiopians and 9 per cent are from other countries.

Eighteen people have been arrested for trying to cross into Saudi Arabia illegally from other neighboring countries. Sixteen people have been arrested for providing accommodation and travel facilities to the offenders. The total number of convicts in the country has now risen to 76,836 after the crackdown on offenders was tightened. There are 73,539 males and 3,297 females.

The Interior Ministry has warned that anyone found violating border security rules or being allowed to enter the country or being provided with transportation, shelter or any other assistance or service could face up to 15 years in prison. It also warned that fines of up to one million riyals, confiscation of vehicles and shelter would be made against them, and that their names would be revealed in the local media.
