Ways to bypass the “illegal sanctions” – imposed by the EU on its liquefied natural gas (LNG) businesses – Russia is going to seek, the Kremlin announced today, adding that any measures would have an impact on European industry.

The European Commission’s next package of sanctions is expected to propose restrictions on Russian liquefied natural gas for the first time, including an EU transshipment ban and measures against three Russian LNG projects, three EU sources said on Thursday.

“Continuing attempts to force Russia out of energy markets”

“The attempts to force the Russia out of the energy markets and for the shift to more expensive markets are ongoing,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

According to him, any new EU restrictions will benefit the US and mean European industry pays more for its natural gas.

“Of course, in any case, we will look for ways to circumvent these illegal obstacles, unfair competition and illegal actions,” Peskov concluded.
