To inspire future architects, the ‘KSRM Awards for Future Architects: Best Undergraduate Thesis’ award will be presented for the fifth time. The award will be given to three budding talented architects of the country in a joint initiative of the country’s leading steel industry company KSRM and Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB).
On this occasion, a joint press conference was held by KSRM and IAB in the auditorium of Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) at Agargaon in the capital on Saturday (February 10). IAB General Secretary Nabi Nawaz Khan read the written statement at the press conference. Juri Member and North South University Associate Professor Architect Shahela Joardar, Morpho Genesis Director Architect Shubhra Shobhan Chowdhury, IAB Vice President (National Affairs) and EC Member Architect Mohammad Ali Noki, KSRM Legal Advisor Barrister Saiful Alam Chowdhury, Media and Public Relations Advisor were present. Mizanul Islam, IAB Secretary (Education) Architect Dr. Nowroz Fatemi, Award Coordinator Architect Syeda Saikha Sudah, KSRM Senior Manager ASM Newaz Mohammad, Senior Officer Mizanul Islam, Tahumul Haque Babu etc.
KSRM’s prestigious recognition ‘KSRM Awards for Future Architects’ with the support of IAB said the organizers at the press conference. The purpose of this award is to recognize the best visionary projects of undergraduate students of IAB recognized Architecture Departments in Bangladesh.
It was informed in the press conference that a 10-year MoU was signed between KSRM and IAB in 2019. Since then three emerging architects selected by the Jury Board have been awarded annually by KSRM. According to the terms of the agreement, the final year students of the graduation level of 13 renowned architecture educational institutions of the country recognized by IAB have participated in this award competition. The top three contestants from each institution will participate in the final competition. A jury board consisting of five senior architects of the country will select the best three from among the projects presented by the participating students.
On the same day (February 10) the exhibition of projects was inaugurated at IAB Center at 10 am. The exhibition will continue for four days till February 13 at 8 pm. The exhibition will be open to all from 10 am to 8 pm daily. The awards will be presented to the winners in a grand ceremony on February 13 at the IAB Centre.
In the KSRM Award, the first prize winner will get Tk 1 lakh, the second prize winner will get Tk 75 thousand and the third prize winner will get Tk 50 thousand. Crests and certificates will also be given to the winners.
Colonel (retd) Ashfaqul Islam, General Manager (Market Research and Development) KSRM said the award, introduced in 2019, is given annually to motivate students and departments at the undergraduate level of architecture. Combined with exhibitions and publications, the ‘KSRM Awards for Future Architects’ has become an important means of showcasing the projects of talented students. KSRM is known everywhere. KSRM has participation in all the mega projects of the country. A considerable amount of rod is supplied.
Among the participating universities in this year’s competition are Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE), Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, North South University, American University of Bangladesh (AIUB), BRAC University, Ahsanullah. University of Science and Technology, Stamford University Bangladesh, Southeast University, State University of Bangladesh, Leading University and Asia Pacific University.
