6:15 a.m .: Gazprom still sees its half-year net profit drop sharply

The Russian state giant Gazprom announced Tuesday a heavy drop in its half-yearly net profit, still weighed down by the drop in its gas exports to Europe in the wake of the conflict in Ukraine.

In the first six months of the year, net profit was divided by more than 8, falling to 296 billion rubles (2.84 billion euros), against 2,500 billion rubles (24.04 billion euros ) in the same period of 2022. “The decline in exports to Europe has been partially offset by an increase in deliveries to China, which will continue to grow under contractual obligations”, commented Famil Sadygov, Director Gazprom deputy, who attributed the fall in half-year profit to the weak ruble.

Gazprom, pillar of the Russian economy led by several relatives of Vladimir Putin, had already announced in May a drop of more than 41% in its annual net profit for 2022 to 1.226 billion rubles.
