(sda) Cornelia Hütter and Federica Brignone, Lara Gut-Behrami’s only remaining competitors in the fight for the small crystal ball in the Super-G, finished fifth and second in high temperatures. The Italian came within 30 points of the Ticino woman Austrian up to 60 points.

For once, Gut-Behrami did not show a brilliant performance and had to tremble until the ride from Brignone before she could be sure of winning her fifth Super-G ball. This puts her on a par with Katja Seizinger and Lindsey Vonn. The German and the American also won the discipline ranking five times.

«It’s never easy in such conditions. I tried going full throttle from top to bottom. I was off the line a few times at the top,” Gut-Behrami told SRF after the race. Nevertheless, it was one of her best races in such conditions. “I’m just glad it worked out.”

She dispelled the speculation that had prevailed in advance about an end to her career after the season. “I’ll definitely be driving for another year. However, it is quite unrealistic for me to continue until Cortina,” said Gut-Behrami. Cortina d’Ampezzo in the Italian Dolomites will host the women’s alpine competitions at the 2026 Olympic Games.

Ester Ledecka won the last Super-G of the season. It was the 28-year-old Czech’s fourth World Cup victory, her second in the Super-G. She crossed the finish line 28 hundredths ahead of Brignone and 30 hundredths ahead of Kajsa Lie. The Norwegian climbed onto a World Cup podium for the third time this season.

Michelle Gisin was the second best Swiss woman in 13th place, Jasmina Suter finished in 19th place.
