Leak Claims Pokémon Winds and Waves Delayed to 2027 Due to Development Issues

The tenth generation of the Pokémon franchise faced a schedule change when The Pokémon Company and developer Game Freak moved its launch back by a full year.

Schedule Change Details

According to a leak shared by CentroLeaks on November 6, Pokémon Winds and Waves were originally on track to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 in November 2026. Game Freak and The Pokémon Company made the choice in January 2026 to push the release to 2027.

Vice reported that the decision occurred just weeks before the public unveiling. The Pokémon Company revealed the titles during a Pokémon Day stream on February 27, 2026, carrying an official 2027 launch window.

The announcement arrived via a press release hosted on the corporate Asia press site, marking the first entries into the franchise’s tenth generation. Both titles are targeted for the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, bringing a simultaneous worldwide launch arrangement for players around the globe.

Leakers such as Ball Guy, Cento Leaks, and Kurwa pointed toward November 2027, though neither Game Freak nor Nintendo verified those claims.

Television Series Effects

The reported delay triggered scheduling complications across franchise projects. Pokémon Horizons faced direct revisions.

Producers planned to conclude the current series at episode 136 before implementing an extra story arc to tease Generation 10. The television show will go on a hiatus in March before returning closer to the release date of Pokémon Winds and Waves.

Narrative elements involving Navi and Konetsu were altered under the reported rewrite. Producers swapped out Konetsu for Ditto in the revised storyline.

A Tropical Archipelago Features 300 New Creatures

The upcoming region features a tropical archipelago with accessible underwater exploration.

Leakers including Ball Guy, Cento Leaks, and Kurwa pointed to November 2027 as the specific arrival month.

Unconfirmed estimates accompanying the leaks suggest that roughly 300 brand-new creatures could be introduced into the Pokédex with this generation. Fans look toward the upcoming Pokémon Day presentation in February 2027 for updates regarding official box art, legendary species reveals, and definitive launch schedules.
