She cried a lot for her beautiful hair.
Singer Lena Meyer-Landrut (31, “Satellite”) suddenly had her long, brunette mane cut short in September last year. As it turns out now, however, the hairstyle change was not voluntary – the hair HAD to come off. What nobody knew before: Lena suffered from Long Covid.
The singer has now revealed this in “THE LENAVERSE”, her own fan channel, which has been online since February. Here fans can get very personal messages from Lena if they pay for it (annual pass: 29 euros).
Now Lena told her followers: “Lost over 50 percent of my hair between March and August because of Long Covid”. And further: “That’s why they HAD to leave!” Behind them she put a crying emoji.
And indeed: According to current studies, hair loss is a common long-Covid symptom. The reason may be a lack of nutrients in the hair roots during the disease. Researchers also suspect that the patient’s body mistakenly forms autoantibodies against their own hair roots as part of the SARS-CoV-2 virus defense – which can subsequently lead to loss.
The severe hair loss was a bad time for Lena, she explained. And added: “I cried soooooo, wow”.
A follower then asked: “Did cutting it help, so did the hair regenerate?” Lena’s answer: “No, but my long hair was super, super thin and looked totally crazy.” She also wrote: “They grow back to normal since September/October.”
Lena didn’t let anyone feel anything about the grief for her long mane. For her Instagram posting of the new hairstyle, she only wrote: “New hair who dis” (Eng. “New hair, who is that?”).
fans like Lena with every hairstyle, spoke to , in the chat: “Find, your short hair really suits you.” And: “Your hair grows back”.
