“Developing the potential of the local milk sector for the socio-economic empowerment of internally displaced people in Burkina”. Through this theme of the 9th edition of the 72 hours of local milk, the National Union of Mini Dairies and Milk Producers of Burkina (UMPL/B), initiator of the event, would like to give pride of place to Internally Displaced People (PDI).

“Each year, we choose themes based on current events. This year we noticed that IDPs also need the milk sector to develop. This is why we reflected, during the regional workshops, in order to construct advocacy messages aimed at the authorities so that we could help displaced people; that we look at opportunities in the milk sector to support these people.

For us, it is truly restoring the dignity of these people by supporting them to reconstitute their means of production”, explained Adama Diallo, president of the National Union of Mini Dairies and Local Milk Producers of Burkina (UMPL/B). The innovation, noted Mr. Diallo, is the joint holding of this 9th edition with the commemoration of the month of local consumption. The outcome for him, after all these years, is positive.

The theme of the edition, also said the delegate minister, “is of undeniable importance”.
