LG AeroCat: Purificador de Aire con Cama para Gatos Llega a México | Alergias Felinas

For millions of pet lovers who also suffer from allergies, the dream of a sniffle-free home with a feline companion has often felt out of reach. But LG is aiming to change that with the AeroCat, a new device unveiled at LG InnoFest 2026 in Mexico that combines air purification with a dedicated space for cats. The AeroCat, designed to reduce the presence of cat allergens at their source, is slated to become available in Mexico, offering a potential solution for allergy sufferers who don’t want to choose between a pet and their health.

The core of the problem, as explained by the Purina Institute, isn’t the cat hair itself, but a microscopic protein called Fel d1, found in cat saliva, skin and sebaceous secretions. When cats groom themselves, this protein adheres to their fur and becomes airborne, lingering for hours and settling on surfaces throughout the home. This can trigger allergic reactions – irritated eyes, nasal congestion, sneezing, and even breathing difficulties – in sensitive individuals.

LG’s AeroCat tackles this issue with a tower-style purifier equipped with a filtration system capable of capturing not only pet dander but also fine particles, odors, and other allergens. According to LG, the system can reduce up to 99.9% of feline-origin allergens within approximately 20 minutes of operation in a controlled space. The filters are designed to trap extremely small particles, down to 0.01 microns, with nearly 99% efficiency, capturing dust, bacteria, and other airborne contaminants.

The LG AeroCat combines air purification technology with a built-in cat bed.

But the AeroCat isn’t just a purifier; it’s also designed with feline comfort in mind. The device features an integrated cat bed on top, complete with temperature adjustments and two levels intended to mimic the warmth cats seek when resting. This strategic design aims to capture more of the Fel d1 particles released during grooming, maximizing the purifier’s effectiveness. LG has also incorporated a “Cat Relax Mode” that automatically adjusts airflow when a cat is detected on the bed, reducing noise and disturbance while maintaining purification power when the space is unoccupied.

The AeroCat further integrates with LG’s ThinQ app, allowing users to monitor data related to their cat, such as weight and rest time. While it remains unclear whether the device will function effectively in homes without pets, the initial focus is clearly on providing relief for allergy sufferers living with cats.
