A great success in the Breton derby, a new official recruit, the Lorient Ultras who were celebrating their 27th anniversary… It was a party night at the Moustoir. Before kick-off, Baba Dieng was presented to the public, thus confirming his transfer from OM after several days of negotiations and twists and turns. The 22-year-old Senegalese striker arrives in Lorient for the sum of €7 million (+ €3 million in bonuses) and a two-and-a-half-year contract (with an option for two additional years).
From the stands, Dieng must have enjoyed seeing his new team hurt the Rennais very badly in the first period. Thanks to the Tunisian international Montasser Talbi (1-0, 13th) who rose very high and Théo Le Bris (2-0; 31st), Lorient logically broke away. Without the multiple parades of Steve Mandanda, in particular on a face-to-face with Ibrahima Kone (39th), the score could even have been heavier.
Genesio changes system at the break
Certainly enjoying very little of the waves taken by his team, Bruno Genesio decided to change the system at the break by going back to a 3-man defense and making three changes, Santamaria, Tait and Sulemana replacing Ugochukwu, Majer and Wooh.
