Chennai: The price of liquor in Tasmag stores across Tamil Nadu has gone up from ₹ 10 to 80. The price hike came into effect yesterday. The managing director of Tasmac said the order should be implemented immediately.

There are more than 4,300 Tasmac stores in Tamil Nadu. These shops are run by the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce (Tasmag). Tasmag plays a key role in increasing government revenue. Liquor sales will increase from ₹ 90 crore to 90 crore on normal days and to ₹ 500 crore on holidays including Pongal, Diwali and New Year.

Accordingly, Tasmag will generate revenue of up to ₹ 31 billion per annum for the State of Tamil Nadu. In 2017, the price of liquor was increased in Tamil Nadu. Following this, the price of alcohol was increased in February 2020. At that time, the price of quarter 10, app ₹ 20 and grass ₹ 40 increased. Beer price increased by 10 per bottle.

In this context, the Cabinet meeting of the Government of Tamil Nadu was convened the day before yesterday. The meeting also discussed the filing of financial statements for the year 2022-2023 and the announcement of special schemes in various sectors, including sector wise allocation of funds and promotion of new ventures.

The meeting also approved raising the excise duty and sales tax. Thus, the government has taken action to raise the price of alcohol again.
Accordingly, Tasmac liquors will be priced at ₹ 10 per quart for casual varieties, ₹ 20 for medium and high quality liquors, ₹ 20 per ounce for normal bottles, ₹ 40 for medium and high quality liquors, ₹ 40 per ounce for grass bottles, ₹ 80 for medium and high quality liquors. Has been elevated. The price of beer has been increased by 10 more than the current price. The hike came into effect immediately from yesterday. Accordingly, this new invoice was received by the shopkeepers and assistant salesmen in the office of the supervisor.

Similarly, on the last 6th the inventory should be sorted by brand and packed and handed over to the office. Tasmag management has instructed senior regional managers and district managers to ensure that liquor is sold at modified prices and that the old inventory is handed over.

Also, management has advised that the revised price list should be kept in front of each Tasmac store for viewing. According to Tasmag sources, this will generate an additional revenue of ₹ 4,396 crore per annum for the State of Tamil Nadu.
