- The 105th final of the Coupe de France pits FC Nantes of Antoine Kombouaré, 9th in Ligue 1, against OGC Nice of Christophe Galtier, 6th. It is the first time since 2014, and a Guingamp-Rennes (2-0), that PSG has not played in the final of the competition.
- To qualify for the final, Nantes had to get rid of Sochaux (32nd final), Vitré (16th), Brest (8th), Bastia (1/4) and Monaco (1/2). For its part, Nice had a fairly strong career by consecutively eliminating Cholet, PSG, Marseille and the little minnow Versailles, while not having played in the round of 16 following the joint elimination of Paris FC and Olympique Lyonnais.
- The two teams have each won the Coupe de France three times. It was in 1979, 1999 and 2000 for Nantes and in 1952, 1954 and 1997 for Nice. The two clubs have played in a cup final each since, both the Coupe de la Ligue, in 2004 for the Canaries and in 2006 for the Aiglons.
