Livestock Services Week and Exhibition, 2024 begins on Thursday (April 18). Organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, this service week and exhibition of the Department of Livestock will end on April 22.

The inauguration ceremony will be held on Thursday at 10 am at the old trade fair ground adjacent to the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present as the chief guest. Fisheries and Livestock Minister will preside. Abdur Rahman.

In this context, the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock said that one of the objectives of the Livestock Service Week and Exhibition is to increase production of livestock, create a market for dairy products, encourage small farmers and entrepreneurs to produce livestock. Apart from this, people will learn about modern management of livestock from seminars organized on the occasion of Livestock Services Week. As a result, people will benefit. I believe that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s presence will encourage our work.

As part of the Livestock Service Week and Exhibition, there will be a Livestock Show at the Old Trade Fairgrounds on April 18 and 19. Also, this exhibition will be held simultaneously in 466 upazilas. In these exhibitions, improved breeds and more productive breeds of livestock such as cows, calves, bulls, buffaloes, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, dumbas, pigeons, cute birds, pets and various technologies will be displayed from respective upazilas.

The central exhibition in Dhaka will have around 400 stalls based on different valuchains. There will also be stalls of various technologies used in livestock development, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, livestock production and preservation equipment, product marketing technology including packaging. Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Directorate of Livestock, Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute, Livestock and Dairy Development Scheme, LRI, Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farms are participating in seven pavilions.

A total of 93 awards, crests and certificates will be given to participants in various categories considering quality, breed, health, beauty, size, contribution, safety, employment, marketing, environmental and economic impact, overall monitoring etc. The special attraction of the exhibition is the cattle ramp show.

Six seminars will be held on April 18 and 19 on the occasion of Livestock Services Week and Exhibition at Dhaka’s Old Trade Fair Grounds. The main topics of the seminar will be the current status of livestock, future thinking and actions, climate smart dairy sector, antimicrobial resistance and food safety, animal disease control and other issues.

The food safety corner at the exhibition includes awareness activities on safe food preparation and practices, such as: personal hygiene, safe food preparation and processing, storage/warehousing, ensuring overall cleanliness and hygiene up to product transportation and distribution at the consumer level and display of milk, egg, meat safe food products. And will be sold.

The prize distribution and closing ceremony of the Livestock Exhibition will be held at the Old Trade Fair Grounds on April 19 and the closing ceremony of the Livestock Service Week will be held on April 22 at the Krishibid Institute Auditorium at Khamarbari in the capital.

Livestock and Dairy Development Project of Directorate of Livestock, Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association (BDFA) and Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) are collaborating in organizing.
