New Delhi: Voting in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections is on May 7. In this, voting will be held on 95 seats in 12 states and union territories, for which 1351 candidates are in the fray. The Election Commission said that these include eight candidates trying their luck from Betul seat of Madhya Pradesh. Voting was to be held here in the second phase but after the death of the Bahujan Samaj Party candidate, voting was postponed to the third phase. BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal has already been declared elected unopposed from Surat seat of Gujarat.

According to the Commission, the last date for withdrawal of names of the candidates was April 22. 2,963 nominations were filed for 95 seats including Betul. During their scrutiny, 1,563 nominations were found valid. According to the Election Commission, a maximum of 658 candidates are contesting for 26 seats in Gujarat in the third phase. Maharashtra is in second place where 519 candidates are trying their luck for 11 seats.

According to the Commission, maximum 77 nominations were filed for Osmanabad seat of Maharashtra. Bilaspur of Chhattisgarh stood second in nominations, where 98 nomination papers were filed. This time, elections are being held in 7 phases for 543 Lok Sabha seats across the country. Counting of votes will take place on June 4. Voting has been done for the first phase on 19 April. The second phase of voting is on 26 April. Voting for the third phase will be held on May 7. Voting for the fourth phase will be held on May 13. The fifth phase of voting will be held on May 20. The sixth phase of elections will be held on May 25 and the seventh and final phase of elections will be held on June 1.
