The City of London is preparing an application to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said on the Sky Sports channel.
“We want to return the Olympic Games to London. In the last few days, we witnessed the consequences of climate change: heat waves, fires. We must be sure that the games to be organized in the future will be environmental in nature, we are working in that direction,” said the mayor, adding that Britain can ensure this.
“The great thing is that London doesn’t need to spend carbon to build a new stadium, cycle track or swimming pool because we have everything to host the Olympics. By the way, we set a record. The Games were organized 3 times in our country. It was glorious,” he added.
It should be noted that the Olympic Games were held in London in 1908, 1948 and 2012.
