Kochi: Grandmaster Pragnananda said that he is looking forward to the Chennai Chess Olympiad. Pragyanandhaa (R Praggnanandhaa) told Asianet News that the goal is to perform better in the future. Pragyananda said he wanted to follow in the footsteps of Viswanathan Anand and set a target of 2700 points this year.

The 16 – year – old has been hailed as the legendary Magnus Carlsen at the AirTinks Masters. Pragyananda said he had no plans against Carlson and enjoyed the game.

Sachin Tendulkar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were among those who greeted him. Pragyananda said the target is to reach 2700 points this year.

Ramesh Babu Pragyanananda said that he constantly talks to Kerala chess players including Nihal Sarin and this helps to improve the game.

Pragyananda is the fifth youngest player to become a Grandmaster. Pragyanananda arrived in Kerala to receive the Shankara Award at Kalady Sree Sharda Vidyalaya.
