Medvedev is still “proud” of himself
After his triumph at the US Open 2021, Medvedev still has to wait for his second Grand Slam title. “I’m still proud of myself,” said Medvedev immediately after the end of the game in the Rod Laver Arena.
The final between Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner was the first men’s final on the Yarra River since 2005 that took place without the participation of Djokovic, Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal. For Jannik Sinner, the success in Melbourne was also financially worthwhile. The victorious South Tyrolean will receive around 1.9 million euros in prize money for his triumph against Medvedev.
