Loto: a player wins 17 million euros from the New Year’s jackpot

by time news

It took two weeks to find a winner. A lucky player won the sum of 17 million euros at stake during the Loto New Year’s jackpot this Saturday, reports the specialized media Le Tirage Gagnant.

The lucky winner thus becomes the first millionaire thanks to the Loto of the year 2023, thanks to the series of numbers 13, 14, 22, 36, 40, and the Chance number 9, as specified on the dedicated site of the Française des games. He then only had a one in 19 million chance of winning.

Put into play for the New Year, the spectacular kitty had two weeks of unsuccessful draws before finding its beneficiary. The department of origin of the new multimillionaire remains unknown for the moment.

Thousands of other winners

In addition to this huge gain, more than one million players won at least 2.20 for this New Year’s draw. Sixty others were able to receive more than 6,000 euros in prize money after matching 4 numbers. Another winner won the sum of 198,521 euros thanks to a combination of 5 numbers.

The beneficiary of the 17 million euro prize pool is added to an increasingly long list of online winners, specifies Le Tirage Gagnant, which counts six multimillionaire Loto players, in 2022, by this means. Among them are two of the biggest winners of this year, with sums of 21 and 20 million euros.

At the end of December, it was a retired couple who had reached a record, by pocketing a check for 25 million euros in Paris – the third biggest win in the history of the Loto. The record remains held by a resident of Ille-et-Vilaine, who had pocketed 30 million euros in 2021. A sum far, all the same, from the 230 million won by a Briton at EuroMillions in July.
