  • A win against Nice is critical to maintaining that position ahead of the Coupe de France.
  • The team anticipates a challenging match, as they will face Nice again in the Coupe de France phase finale.
  • Players balance intense training schedules with academic pursuits, demonstrating remarkable dedication.

“We’re in a championship where all the teams are very close, every match is a battle,” says Lou Jean-Michel, a key player for Union Saint-Bruno. Balancing the demands of elite athletics with a rigorous academic schedule is a common theme for the team.

From Monday to Friday, the weekly workload amounts to ten to twelve hours, not including matches, which occur “on average every two weeks.” like many of her teammates, Lou jean-Michel leads a dual life. “I’ve always done this,” she says. “I got a law degree, then a master’s. This year, I’m in my second year of a master’s in health law and doing an apprenticeship at the same time.”

This carefully structured schedule is sometimes disrupted by international obligations. “Going with the French team is complex: you have to be away for a long time, balancing exams, competitions, and work… But we try, and I think it’s important to do so.”

Experienced international player lou Jean-michel recently returned from a busy year with the French national team. The team didn’t reach their target of finishing in the top eight at the World Championships in Singapore. “It was complicated,” she admits, “as we didn’t manage to break into the top eight, which was our stated goal.”

The European Championships offered encouraging signs, with an eighth-place finish, still short of the targeted top six, but promising for the future.”It’s a young team, with a new coaching staff,” Lou recalls. “the results reflect that, but more importantly, it’s a team that’s gaining experience.”

With national ambitions, international progress, and a demanding daily routine, Union Saint-Bruno is determined to continue its ascent.”It’s going to be super important,” lou Jean-Michel insists. The crucial match is scheduled for Saturday, February 7th, at the Piscine Judaïque Jean Boiteux, starting at 6:30 PM.
