For the first time since Tokyo 2020, Luna Chamtai Salpeter competed in the Tiberias Marathon and also made sure that her name would grab the headlines again. Israel’s senior Olympic runner finished first in a time of 1:11:36 hours in the half marathon, but did not break the Israeli record of 1:06:09. Marrow Tepperi finished first in the men’s half marathon in a time of 1:02:17, Daniel Molosht won the full marathon with 2:17:08 and in women Beatty Doist in a time of 2:41:12 hours.
7,000 people competed in the 44th Tiberias Marathon – a record number of runners since its inception. The marathon was held in a number of events: a half marathon (21.1 km), a full marathon (42.2 km), a 10 km run and a 5 km run. The running route along the shores of the Sea of Galilee from the area of the Hof Guy Hotel in the southern part of the city to the Ein Gev area and back to the starting point.
The Tiberias Marathon is one of three international sporting events taking place this year in Tiberias. It was preceded by the World Windsurfing Championship – PWA which took place last June and the prestigious IRONMAN competition. This is a series of events that takes place in the city of Tiberias with the aim of making the city an international tourist center.
