New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader and MP Dr. Syed Tufail Hasan. Sharma had said that his government had closed 600 madrassas in Assam and would close the rest soon. Syed Tufail Hasan came out with a response to this.

Madrasahs provide not only Islamic education but also modern education. On one hand, the Assam CM is spewing venom. On the other hand, we want Muslims to have a Quran in one hand and a computer in the other, says the Prime Minister. First, they (BJP) should decide what their party stand is,” said Syed Tufail Hasan.

Speaking at a public event in Belagavi, Karnataka, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said that all madrassas in the state will be closed soon. ‘We don’t need madrasahs. Engineers and doctors. Instead of madrasahs, more schools, colleges and universities are needed. Modern India does not need madrasas. Himanta said that there are 3000 registered and unregistered madrassas functioning in Assam.

Himanta Biswa Sharma arrived as part of the tour of BJP national leaders in connection with the Karnataka elections.
